Baer’s Beverage, Inc. was founded in 1952, when Al Baer purchased J & R Distributing, the Pabst distributor in Appleton, Wisconsin. At that time, 3 trucks serviced the 12 routes. In 1962, Baer’s Beverage, Inc. relocated to a new 9,500 square foot warehouse in Menasha. In 1969, Fox Cities Beverage, the Blatz distributer located in Appleton, was purchased and the operations were consolidated into the Menasha facility.
Floyd and Gerald, sons of Al Baer, founded Capital Sales Inc. in 1970 by purchasing Fox Valley Beer Sales of Appleton, the distributor of Heileman products. The operation was also moved to the Menasha location. Floyd and Gerald gained part interest in Baer’s Beverage, Inc. in 1972.
The acquisitions and sales increases during the early 1970’s made it necessary to build onto the 9,500 square foot warehouse in Menasha bringing the total square footage to 29,000. During the same time frame, the number of trucks increased to 11 and the number of routes grew to 55.
A Schofield operation was founded in 1978, when City Beer Depot, the Anheuser-Busch distributor, was purchases by Baer’s Beverage, Inc. Gerald Baer became the manager of that facility. Shortly after, the operation was moved to a larger warehouse in Wausau. A second purchase in 1978 resulted in the acquisition of Marathon Distributing Company, the Schlitz distributer in Wausau. The Anheuser-Busch product line was purchased from Shawano Distributing Company in 1979 and was serviced from the main Wausau facility.
Baer’s Beverage, Inc. was appointed in 1980 to be the distributer for Stroh’s products in the Wausau area. Also in1980, Baer’s Beverage, Inc. moved its Wausau area operation into a newly constructed 20,000 square feet warehouse in the Village of Weston.
Baer’s Beverage Inc. purchased Dougherty Sales of Appleton, the Schlitz and Old Milwaukee distributor, in 1983 and moved the operation to the existing Menasha facility.
Floyd and Gerald, being sole owners of Capital Sales Inc., merged with Baer’s Beverage, Inc. in 1985. The acquisition of Eatmore Products of Stevens Point, the Anheuser-Busch distributer in that area, occurred in 1987. The Stevens Point operation was consolidated into the Weston facility.

Baer’s Beverage, Inc. made its most current move in 2001 to a newly constructed 80,000 square foot warehouse and office located in the Weston Industrial Park. We currently employ 46 full-time and 9 part-time employees. We have also increased to 9 delivery trucks servicing 45 routes and almost 1,000 accounts. Due to the geographic area covered by the Schofield location, we operate a small satellite warehouse in Stevens Point.
